Basmah Malik’s Spring/Summer ‘21 Pre Collection

As 2nd generation, working class, British South Asian Women, for most of us, our identity is often shaken throughout our whole development from a child to adulthood. From our opposing cultures clashing, we are torn to live double lives with many things that we do that may be frowned upon, or even looked down on by the different people around us. Especially with the way that we physically present ourselves to the world.

The SS21 Pre-Collection is about uniting our identity as a whole rather than it being ‘split’ to please others. As women of colour, we should not have to constantly explain our actions, hide or justify them to anyone with how we dress or how we express ourselves. We will not be silenced.

Our voices & stories as women of colour matter & we will be heard.
